Second Time's The Charm
I have to hold up my hand - I am guilty of trying to constantly tick places of a map. If I have a choice between visiting a city I have been to before (even if I loved it) or someplace new, there are no bets on what I would pick.
I have caught myself saying time and time again, "I don't understand how people go on holiday to the same place every year! How unimaginative can one be!"
But sometimes I have to swallow my words. Because some cities just are the sort you could see others - and yourself - visit time and time again. Venice is one of them and I am so happy I ignored the "Venice Disneyland" descriptions and added another Marco Polo stamp to my passport.
Venice in winter was a dream! Empty canals, no queues, beautiful milky winter light... and calle upon calle of delicious osteria and baccari to eat at. I can definitely see myself heading back another winter to soak up this gorgeous city you can't help want to devour with your eyes... first, second, third, a hundred times over!
Hope 2017 has started off with a bang and brings us all many more delicious platetrotting adventures!
