What's on the Menu for 2019?

There's nothing like a new year to make you renew your passions. I started my blog on January 1, 2012 and it amazes me that 7 long years have passed since that very first post.

Part of the reason I first started my blog was to create a sort of memory bank or digital diary of the places I visited, the things I saw and the dishes I tried. What I soon found was that blogging pushed me to do more... and to pay more attention to what I did.

Last year saw my blogging grind almost to a halt. In between planning a wedding and a honeymoon and negotiating a move, while the platetrotting did not stop, the blogging took a bit of a backseat.

But 2019 is a new year! And after 13 years in the Middle East, it's one that sees me starting out again in a new country and continent. One that I hope will be filled with more travel, more food and more opportunities to write and share my experiences with fellow platetrotters.

I believe that living the life of an expat makes you more curious... it pushes you to discover not just the far off places, but the wonderful sights, people, food and activities that lie right on your doorstep. It's what I enjoyed most about my life in the Middle East and what I hope to enjoy as I explore England... with all its woods, university towns, thatched-roofed villages and glistening coves. And of course the many, many delicious haunts I've already started munching my way through in London.

Here's to new places, new things to try and new discoveries Happy new year and happy platetrotting in 2019!
Get inspired!
